Hi. I’m Mell.
I’ve been a web developer and designer for over fourteen years and, when I got married last year, I used those skills to give DIY wedding a whole new meaning.
I made my own website, tailoring the content to every guest, and an online RSVP form that changed as my guests answered – no point asking what you’re eating if you’ve RSVP’d no!
I designed my own stationery – save the dates, invitations, thank you cards, orders of service, table plan, favours – carrying the same design and personality across the whole wedding.
I even tried my hand at crafting, making my own cake topper, wedding party presents, tote bags, boutineers, and my own bouquet.
And that’s on top of planning the lot!
So, after eighteen long months of planning, creating, coding, venue-hunting, bargain-seeking, pinwheel-making, speech-writing, and Pinterest-overdosing, I felt like I knew a thing or two about throwing a wedding!
I decided to start Gettin’ Hitched Rocks so other couples could have a gorgeous themed wedding with personality and fun without needing fourteen years’ coding and designing behind them.
This blog is here to help you navigate the tricky waters between having the wedding you want, the wedding you can afford, and the wedding Miss Manners insists on. It’s for all the things I wish I’d been told when I planned my wedding. It’s for DIY resources, ideas, and inspiration. It’s for pictures of some really gorgeous wedding stationery.
And it’s for telling you you’ve got this.
Because you do. You’ve got this.
Gettin’ hitched is going to rock.
